I have purchased the meal plan for our up coming trip in March, and would like to know a few of the best places to do the sit down meals. I have an 11 and 13 year old, both girls, and 1 is very picky with her food. Any suggestions?

    Hello Wendy!
With over 300 dining locations (over 100 accept reservations!) at the Walt Disney World Resort, asking for the best places for a sit-down meal could be seen as an impossible question. But, I am willing to give it my best shot! In honor of the recently released nominations for Academy Awards, here are my nominations for “best places for a sit-down meal” by category:

    • For best character experience:  It’s a tie! Chef Mickey’s and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. Both locations are great, the real decision is Mickey and the gang or princesses.
    • For best dinner show: Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review. Singing, dancing, and vaudeville comedy will have you stomping your feet and clapping your hands, all while enjoying some delicious vittles!
    • For best buffet (non-character): Boma- Flavors of Africa. Located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, this buffet ends with one of my all-time favorite treats… the legendary Zebra Dome.
    • For best signature dining experience: California Grill. If you time this dinner right, you can view Wishes from the venue’s outside observation deck.
    • For best seafood: Kona Café.  My daughters tell me this is their favorite sushi restaurant, EVER.
    • For most entertaining: 50’s Primetime Café. Classic comfort food meets fun-loving service staff.
    • For best Magic Kingdom meal: Be Our Guest. The Beast’s castle includes three beautiful rooms, including the forbidden West Wing, as well as French-inspired cuisine.

These are just a few of my family's nominations for best sit-down dining experiences. As for your picky eater, no worries! All locations have a wide variety of choices. If you have more questions, come on back! The Disney Parks Moms Panel loves to help!

    See ya real soon!
