I purchased MagicBand+ and will be visiting Disneyland/DCA in October. Will I be able to purchase food and souvenirs using my MagicBand+?

    Hey there, Janet!

Welcome to planDisney and we're happy to see you here with your great question! Oh boy, your visit to the Disneyland Resort is just around the corner! Are you excited about seeing all the Halloween decorations and the characters in their special costumes? It's my favorite time of year to visit because it's so magically spooky and there are pumpkins everywhere you look.

Congratulations on getting a MagicBand+ for your trip! It's a great way to prepare for your visit and will make your trip so much more streamlined and convenient. MagicBand+ functionality was added to the Disneyland Resort in the latter half of last year. You'll be able to use it to scan your ticket for Park entrance, redeem Lightning Lanes, and link PhotoPass pictures to your account. The ability to use it to pay for food and merchandise or unlock your Disneyland Resort Hotel room has not yet been added, however. Nevertheless, I find my MagicBand+ incredibly useful and always pack it when I visit the Parks.

If you'd like a more convenient method of paying for food and merchandise, I would recommend looking into mobile food ordering and merchandise mobile checkout, respectively. They're both extremely easy to use through the Disneyland Mobile App and will save you time from waiting in the food order/checkout lines. I've recently begun using merchandise mobile checkout more frequently and I love it! You just click on Merchandise Mobile Checkout in the App (it can be found in the "☰" Features Menu), select your current store location, and begin scanning items you'd like to purchase. You pay within the App (register a credit card with the App before your visit to save even more time) and then you'll receive a code onscreen that you show to a Cast Member before leaving the store! It's really quite simple that even a Bear of Very Little Brain could figure it out!

Even though the Disneyland Resort might not enjoy all the MagicBand+ features that the Walt Disney World Resort has, be sure to have it on when you exit Haunted Mansion Holiday or when approaching the ride vehicle for WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. You'll also experience haptic feedback during the nighttime spectaculars and see some additional Dazzling Interactions for the Disney100 Celebration.

Janet, I hope that response was helpful for you in planning your trip. If you need anything further, please let us know. You're always welcome at planDisney and I hope you have a truly magical trip to the Happiest Place on Earth!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
