Hi Jacob,
Welcome to
planDisney! I am happy to help answer your question today about permitted items at the Walt Disney World Resort.
I am so glad you took the time to check out whether your new backpack will be allowed into the Walt Disney World theme parks and water parks. According to the current
Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules, the maximum size for your backpack/cooler to be allowed into the theme parks and water parks is no more than 24 inches long x 15 inches wide x 18 inches high. Unfortunately, your new backpack cooler is 25 inches high so will not be allowed inside.
I know this isn't the news you were hoping for. I looked up the item that you just bought and noticed that there is a smaller version that does fit into the size requirements in case you are thinking of exchanging it. I do have to say that my family also loves to bring in snacks and cold beverages when we visit the theme parks, and backpack coolers are sure a handy way of doing this! If you are able to find a backpack/cooler that fits within the size requirements, keep in mind that loose ice or dry ice is not permitted. Gel packs are allowed, so you might want to consider that option. However, whenever I visit, I just usually freeze a partially full water bottle and use that as my "ice pack" to save space. Whenever my previously frozen water bottle finally thaws enough to drink you can be sure that the slushy water sure is a treat on a hot day!
Jacob, if you don't feel like carrying your backpack/cooler around all day, did you know that there are
locker rentals available? One of my good friends likes to go as hands-free as possible and almost always rents a locker for her extra items so she can tour the theme parks with ease.
