Hi there Laurie! Though I wish it were under happier circumstances, it's nice to see you again at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Thank you for trusting us with your important Disney questions.
First, I'd like to offer my sincere condolences for your husband's passing. I hope you are able to treasure the memories the two of you surely made during your travels to the Most Magical Place on Earth.
My family and I frequently purchase Disney Gift Cards to save for future vacations. Generally, these gift cards are non-refundable but given your situation, you may find someone willing to work with you. If you purchased the gift cards from an outside vendor such as Target or a local grocery store, my suggestion is to speak with someone face to face in the store where you originally bought the gift cards. If you used
shopDisney, I recommend calling
their customer service line at (800) 328-0368 and a Cast Member will be able to assist you. Finally, if you went directly through the
Disney Gift Card website, you'll want to get in touch with them at 1-877-650-4327. I will wish upon a star that good things come your way, Laurie.
If you are unable to come to a resolution with the point of sales, there are a few things to keep in mind. Disney Gift Cards never expire, nor do they have associated fees with holding onto them. When the time is right, they can be used for nearly any kind of Disney vacation you can imagine, from
Disney Cruise Line to
Adventures by Disney. You also have the option to gift them to friends and family or to
spend them nationwide for practically all things Disney.
I hope this helps and that you will be able to reconcile the funds. I wish you the very best as you go forward, and if there is anything else we at the Disney Parks Moms Panel can do, please come see us again.
Betsy
