Hiya Kerri,
Welcome back to planDisney! It means so much to us that you continue to visit us for help with planning your Walt Disney World Resort vacations. We love helping Guests such as yourself, and we hope to continue to be a source of helpful planning information. With
Genie+ being a newer tool at Walt Disney World Resort, there is so much to learn and discover (especially if you haven’t gotten a chance to try it out yet). I’m happy to help you navigate this magic carpet ride.
First things first, I do recommend that both your husband and yourself have two separate My Disney Experience accounts for not just Genie+ but for managing all of your vacation plans. In my personal experience, it can be a lot to manage with just one account. Also, if you both were to login into your account from two separate devices, the My Disney Experience system would likely get a little glitchy.
Now on to our magical friend, Genie. Unfortunately, the Genie+ service system will not allow you to book both a Genie+ reservation and an
Individual lightning lane at the same time from the same or different accounts. If you were to try to do so, the system would experience a delay, and the time slot you were trying to book will become unavailable when you go to confirm. It is best to decide what attraction is yours and your husband's priority and secure that selection first.
In my experience, I recommend reserving you and your husband’s Genie+ selection first because the earlier time slots tend to go first. Once you confirm your Genie+ selection, then book your Individual Lightning Lane (there tends to be more availability). However, I do want to reiterate that it comes down to what attractions are your priority. For my family, our favorite attraction is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. If we have the choice between booking an Individual Lightning Lane earlier in the day for it and a Genie+ selection for Toy Story Mania! (another fave) then we will always secure the Individual Lightning Lane first. We know that we are less concerned with the time we get for Toy Story Mania! than Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. So this would play a massive role in our decision-making process.
I hope this answers your question, Kerri. If you need anything else, please come back and see us.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
