Welcome to planDisney, Shera!
It's not long now until you arrive at
The Happiest Place on Earth. I bet you're counting down the days. As Walt Disney said, "Disneyland is your land." I trust you'll have the most wonderful time.
Shera, the old FastPass+ system was replaced by something called
Disney Genie+. You can purchase this service on a day-to-day basis once you enter the theme park through the
Disneyland mobile app. By purchasing Disney Genie+ you upgrade your park ticket to include "phenomenal cosmic powers," which enable you to select Lightning Lane entrances at over 40 attractions throughout the theme parks. These entrances allow you to skip the regular standby lines and enjoy more attractions on your Disney day.
On the day of your visit, once you scan into the theme park and purchase Disney Genie+, you'll be able to make your first Lightning Lane selection. Once you enjoy that attraction, or two hours after making your selection (whatever comes sooner), you can then make another Lightning Lane selection. You can keep doing that throughout the day until there are no more Lightning Lane selections available. My family used Disney Genie+ on our last visit and we were able to experience so many attractions per day. It was awesome! The cost varies depending on the day, but you're looking at around $25-30 per person. In my opinion, it's totally worth it.
To use Disney Genie+, simply open up your Disneyland mobile app and tap on the "Tip Board." You can then select the theme park you're visiting (the default will be
Disneyland Park). You'll then get a list of all the attractions. The attractions that are available for a Lightning Lane selection will have a Disney Genie+ box with a return time. If you find a time that works for you, simply tap "Book Experience." You'll then find a list of all the people linked to your account. Simply select the people you want to book this experience for and select "Confirm."
It's as easy as bibbidi‐bobbidi‐boo, Shera. Thanks for stopping by planDisney. Please come and see us again if you have any more questions.
