Tamilee from CA Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I just purchased 5 Disneyland annual passes online for my family as a Christmas surprise. Does the expiration date start a year from date of online purchase or a year from the activation date of the first time you use it to enter the park?

    Greetings, Tamilee!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. How wonderful you decided to give the gift of Disney magic to your family this Christmas. You are in for an INCREDIBLE year of experiences at the Happiest Place on Earth.

I'm happy to let you know that Disneyland Resort Annual Passports start their year on the date of activation when you enter the parks, not when you purchase them. This means you can truly maximize your year of Disneyland Resort trips.

As an Annual Passholder, I hope you take advantage of the many perks available to you. You will get discounts on merchandise, dining, and even tours. I also love that as an Annual Passholder you will get exclusive access to special "AP" merchandise and events. Another way to truly make the most of your year is by upgrading your pass with Disney MaxPass. If your specific tier of Annual Passport doesn't already include this fantastic benefit, you can add it for one low yearly price. This will allow you to make digitial Disney FASTPASS selections every day you visit as well as save and download all of your Disney PhotoPass picture memories.

I'd love to help add a little more pixie dust to your year by assisting you with any other questions you may have so please return back. Have a Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah day!
