We purchased Disney Resort package for September which include three park tickets. Can I still add Maxpass to our stay? Most importantly, should I? Can I still use fastpass on the app those days or is that only for maxpass holders?

    Hi Adrienne!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. As someone who has recently done Disneyland Resort both with and without Disney MaxPass, I definitely have some things for you to consider to decide if it's right for you!

To answer your first question, you can certainly add MaxPass on later to tickets you have already purchased. You'll want to add your tickets to the Disneyland Mobile App and each day after you scan your ticket for entry, you'll have the option to purchase MaxPass. You will have to purchase it each day you enter, but if you preload your credit card into the app, it's literally a matter of seconds and you'll be ready to go!

While you can still take advantage of FASTPASS without Disney MaxPass, you won't be able to book directly from your mobile device. Instead you'll need to approach the queue area for each attraction and find the location to scan your mobile device to receive a return time. This can still be done fairly easy, but you do miss the added convenience of it being at your fingertips.

Now to determine whether or not MaxPass is right for you! I recently took a trip with my toddler and grandparents. For this trip I only bought MaxPass for myself for the PhotoPass that was included, not to use FASTPASS. With a little one we didn't find ourselves jumping on a lot of the attractions you would utilize FASTPASS on so we were fine without it. A few weeks later I returned on a girls trip, where we were shooting for the thrill rides like Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! and Incredicoaster and for this trip it was so useful! I would also gauge the time of year you are visiting and if it's during peak season, you will likely find it helpful regardless.

I hope this helped in planning out your upcoming trip to The Happiest Place on Earth! Please come back if we can help in any other way.
