Hi Pablo,
Welcome to back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. The Disney Dining Plan is one of my very favorite add-ons to make my Walt Disney World vacation feel luxurious. It’s so nice to pre-pay for meals and snacks, and then be able to enjoy all kinds of yummy treats without thinking about the budget. I have a visit planned later this year and am already making a list of all the things I can’t wait to taste!
Pablo, although I have a SERIOUS sweet tooth, my husband is more like your friend – he'll always choose a savory or healthy option over, as Anna and Elsa like to say, "chooooooocolate!" When we're on the
Disney Dining Plan, his approach is to politely ask our server if he can substitute something for his dessert. Substitutions are not guaranteed, and are at the discretion of the server and dining location. In our experience, if substitutions are allowed, it's usually a salad or soup in place of the dessert. We've also found that there are usually healthier, lower-sugar options available on the dessert menu, and that fruit is sometimes a possibility.
While Mickey Pretzels are the classic savory snack, and you'll certainly find lots of great savory snack items around the parks, my pal Kristen has some great advice for
finding low-sugar snack options.
Enjoy your visit this summer, Pablo! There are so many exciting new experiences around the theme parks this year – it’s a fantastic time to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth. For all the latest news – plus great reporting on tasty treats and dining experiences – be sure to follow the
Disney Parks Blog.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
