I purchased the Deluxe Disney Dining plan for my visit to WDW in Oct.09. I am starting to have second thoughts and think I might want to downgrade to the basic dining plan especially since this is my first visit. Thoughts? How difficult is it to switch?

Considering this is your first visit, I can see why you might want to go with the basic dining plan.  Using up all of those meal credits, after all, would likely take up a large chunk of your time.  And as a first-timer, there will be so much you'll want to do/see/explore.  Perhaps for a future visit you can go with the deluxe dining plan.  Just keep your eyes open for the restaurants you'll want to try next time.

Switching from the deluxe dining to the basic plan isn't difficult at all.  You simply call 407-WDW-STAY and tell the operator you speak with what you'd like to do.  He or she will make the necessary changes and off you an updated price quote.  You should also receive an updated email that reflects the change.
    Easy peasy.
