Hi there! I purchased the deluxe dining plan and was wondering if I can use one of my credits to pay for my fathers meal (he is only there for a day). Since I purchased them I didn’t think it would be an issue but wanted to make sure!! Thanks

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Marcie!

I have a rumbly in my tumbly thinking about all the delicious food, drinks, and snacks you’ll be enjoying soon when you visit the Walt Disney World Resort with your Disney Deluxe Dining Plan. My family adds a dining plan anytime we can, because we love the easy, stress-free vibe of knowing we’ve pre-paid for our food and can order whatever speaks to us in the moment. Plus, all those snack entitlements mean we can make room for both our eat-every-visit favorites (looking at you, Dole Whip) and new bites from our must-try lists. Oh, there goes my tummy again!

I’m happy to hear that your father will be joining you for a day of your vacation – I know you’ll make magical memories together! Some of my favorite Disney memories are sharing meals with my parents and children, recapping our day’s adventures and enjoying our together time.

Marcie, at this time, Guests may not use their Disney Dining Plan entitlements to pay for anyone who is not part of their resort hotel reservation, as they are considered "non-transferrable." Unless your father is part of the vacation package reservation that includes the dining plan (and I assume he isn’t, since you said he’s only joining you for the day), you would not be permitted to use your dining entitlements to pay for his meal. I do recommend checking in with your server, as sometimes policies are applied differently in different dining locations, but I would ask with the expectation that you will be asked to pay out of pocket for his meal. If you’d like clarification on the policy, I recommend calling (407) WDW-DINE to speak with a dining Cast Member.

I hope you enjoy your upcoming visit! I highly recommend purchasing Memory Maker so you can take lots of pictures and capture every magical moment. Whether you’re posing in front of theme park icons like Cinderella Castle, posing for on-ride attraction photos, or stoping for Magic Shots (you never know what character or effect could show up in your photo), Memory Maker means capturing lovely family photos and the many fun and special moments in between.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
