Hi Jack! Selecting the option to attend the water parks of the Walt Disney World Resort is a great idea! My family had such a great time visiting Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon during our last vacation! In fact, my sons said that the water park was their favorite part of the trip! We hadn’t done it with them in about 10 years, so it was almost like a “new” experience for them. They make a very convincing argument that Summit Plummet ranks as one of the most thrilling “rides” at the Walt Disney World Resort! You’re going to have a great time!
The itinerary that you mentioned in your question is absolutely fine! Your ticket will allow you to enter
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park in the morning, then travel over to
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, and then re-enter Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park later in the day.
Jack, if you’re staying at a resort hotel offering the
Early Theme Park Entry benefit, I recommend that you take full advantage of that extra morning time, especially if you plan on leaving the park in the afternoon. Also, keep in mind that Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park tends to close earlier than other parks (including the water park). I checked the calendar for both parks for July 2. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park is currently scheduled to close at 7:00 PM while Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is currently scheduled to close at 8:00 PM on that date. Keep in mind that park operating hours are always subject to change. You might consider spending your morning and early afternoon at the theme park and then wrapping up your late afternoon and evening at the water park. That way you won’t lose all that valuable park time with back-and-forth travel.

Happy Planning!
