Andrea from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

I purchased 2 day hoppers in January 2020 for a April 2020 visit to Disneyland. The hoppers expire in January of 2021. Will there be an extension for our hoppers since the park is not yet open?

    Welcome to planDisney, Andrea,

To date, the Disneyland Resort has granted automatic expiration extensions to a handful of theme park ticket types. Ticket types that have had their expirations automatically extended include certain promotional tickets, tickets for select international Guests, and Military Salute tickets. If you are uncertain whether your tickets fit within one of these categories, you may call the Disneyland Resort Tickets helpline to look into your specific ticket type.

So far, other theme park ticket types have not been granted an automatic expiration extension. Regardless, you will want to hold on to your tickets. Even expired tickets may retain their original value. Generally, a wholly unused theme park ticket may be exchanged for a new ticket of equal or greater value, even if the ticket has expired. (Exceptions may apply, including for special event tickets.)

I really hope you get a chance to use your theme park tickets soon! As the Disneyland Resort progresses through a phased reopening, I know the Cast Members will be ready to safely receive Guests as soon as permitted by the state and local officials. We enjoyed a weekend visit to the Disneyland Resort area this past summer. Although the theme parks weren’t open yet, it was still exciting to be able to visit the Downtown Disney District a few times during our stay for some shopping and dining. The cleanliness and safety protocols in place made us feel comfortable without being burdensome. If you are in the area, I recommend seeing for yourself how things are there. It may help give you a sense of how social distancing is working out at the Disneyland Resort. And for a limited time, parking is complimentary!

Thank you for the chance to help out with your plans to visit the Disneyland Resort, Andrea. If there is anything else we can help answer, I hope you’ll hurry back to planDisney soon.

    So long!
