So if you're getting Park Hoppers for one of your days, you can get Park Hoppers for your whole trip! So my advice to you is to take the plunge, get Park Hoppers for your entire trip and enjoy the adventure. You will have the most wonderful time at
Disneyland Park and
Disney California Adventure Park!
You will be able to make the upgrade in person at the ticket booths at
Disneyland Resort as long as there's availability. After that, you'll be good to go!
