    We purchased bands almost 3 years ago but never got to use them due to having to cancel our trip. We are finally going to Disney for spring break. I cannot figure how to activate these bands. I don’t think we did when we received them. What do I do?

    Hey there, Courtney! Welcome to planDisney, where we are all jumping for joy that you're finally getting to experience your long-awaited Walt Disney World Resort vacation! Many of us know the feeling of having to cancel a Disney trip, as well as the excitement of rebooking and finally going on that vacation! Your visit is coming up so soon, and I bet you are thrilled!

    Courtney, I love that you've held onto your MagicBands for all this time. Since you mentioned that it has been some time since you purchased your MagicBands, I'm guessing that they aren't the latest version of MagicBand+. The older versions of MagicBands were designed to have a battery life of about two years, though I've had many that have lasted longer than that! There isn't a way to tell if the battery is still good until you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort - you can try them out at your Disney Resorts Collection Hotel Front Desk or at the tapstiles of the Disney Theme Parks. Hakuna matata - I have a backup plan for you! Within your My Disney Experience Mobile App, you can activate Disney MagicMobile Service. It's basically a virtual Disney Theme Park ticket that lives in the wallet of your smartphone. It acts a lot like a MagicBand - you can use it to tap in at park entry, as well as at attractions where you have a Lightning Lane or Virtual Queue

    To link a MagicBand, use this helpful Linking Tool. You'll enter the ID number on the back of the MagicBand into your My Disney Experience Account and then you'll be all connected! Remember, MagicBands can't be transferred from one guest to another. When linking a MagicBand+, you can refer to this helpful article for step-by-step instructions. Be sure to check out this helpful article for information about linking and pairing your MagicBand+ with your smartphone. If you decide you'd like to purchase a MagicBand+ when you arrive, you'll find them at merchandise locations throughout Walt Disney World Resort. They even come with a charger, so you don't have to worry about the battery life again!

    Here are a few extra tips for you:
    • Get familiar with the My Disney Experience Mobile App so you can quickly navigate it when you're making Disney Genie+ Service selections and joining Virtual Queues
    • Use the Mobile Food & Beverage Order feature to avoid long lines at quick-service restaurants
    • Pack your patience, curiosity, and sense of humor!
