I purchased a 1 axis gimbal for my cell phone. It doubles as a 3' tripod with a detachable remote. What's the odds this is not allowed due to it extending and they might think it's being used as an extendable selfie stick?

    Hey Jared!

    Welcome to planDisney!

One of my favorite things to do at the Happiest Place on Earth is take pictures of my family and anything that catches my eye inside of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Capturing those memories from my trip is so special to me and I love looking back and thinking about all the fun we had at the time. If you have little Mouseketeers it’s even more special being able to see how they’ve grown and their time in the parks.

I have taken both a gimbal and a tripod into the parks on many many occasions without issue. Both of those items are not on the list of prohibited items and appear to fit within the required measurements. Even if they are not on the list of prohibited items, security will have the final say on what is and what isn’t allowed in. If the tripod looks too much like a selfie stick and not a tripod then it may not be allowed in as selfie sticks are not allowed on property. Without seeing it it’s hard to say one way or another. I would be ready to take it back to your car, back to your hotel room or give it up if security deems it not allowed.

Well Jared, I hope this was helpful. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Remember, always believe in the Magic!
