Welcome, Natawny! I'm so happy you came to planDisney with your question!
The
Disneyland Resort Magic Key program has been so popular with Guests, and I'm glad to know you were able to acquire your Pass! As you might already know, a Magic Key Pass is activated upon first use for entry to a Disneyland Resort theme park or first use of a fully paid parking benefit to a pay-on-entry lot at Disneyland Resort. Once activated, Magic Key Passes are valid for one year from the activation date.
Magic Key Passes may be activated anytime up to one year from the purchase date, after which, they will expire. So in this case, it sounds like you were unable to activate your pass within that time period, and you may indeed have an expired, inactive Magic Key Pass. The good news is that the program does allow for the amount you paid for your unactivated, expired Pass to be applied towards the purchase of a new Pass of equal or greater price, but this is subject to availability. Because new sales of Magic Key Passes are currently paused at the moment, I'm not certain if your specific circumstance would be considered a renewal (eligible within 30 days of a pass expiration date) or a new Pass purchase. So, I would recommend calling the dedicated
Magic Key Holder line to speak with a Cast Member about the specific
terms and conditions of your original Pass purchase. They would know the specific details of your account to make a determination and recommend any next steps.
I hope this is a helpful start, Natawny, and I hope you are able to enjoy all the magical benefits of the Magic Key Program, soon. If we can help with any other questions in the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out to
planDisney again, soon! We'd love to help.
Wishing you Wondrous Journeys,
