Hi there, Krista! It's a pleasure to have you visit with us. Here are some things you'll want to keep in mind regarding your Disney
theme park tickets.
Standard Walt Disney World theme park tickets are not refundable once they’re purchased. If someone in your group gets sick and isn’t able to go on your trip, Disney typically doesn’t give you money back for unused tickets. Once the ticket has been paid for, the cost is considered used even if it doesn’t get used at the parks.
However, there is some flexibility. If the tickets are completely unused and you decide not to go at all, Disney will often let you apply the value of those tickets toward a future ticket purchase. You’d just pay any difference if the new dates cost more. It’s basically a credit, not a refund, but it’s still helpful if plans change. This can vary depending on exactly what kind of ticket you bought (especially date-based tickets) and how far in advance you make the change, so it’s always a good idea to check the specifics in your
My Disney Experience account or
call Disney to confirm.
There’s also the option of adding Travel Protection if you book a package. That’s separate from the tickets themselves, and it may reimburse you for non-refundable costs (including tickets) if someone can’t travel due to an eligible reason, like illness. If that’s something you’re considering, it’s worth reviewing the policy details so you know what’s covered and what documentation you’d need in case you have to make a claim.
So, regular tickets aren’t refundable, but you may be able to use their value later if they go unused.
I hope this helps, Krista, and if you still have other questions about your theme park tickets, just stop by and see us again. We'll be happy to help.
Toodles,
Korliss
