Can I purchase tickets for a gift and they can make their own reservations later?

Hey there, hi there, Suzanne. Welcome to planDisney. We are so glad you dropped by with this exciting question!

I think someone or a few someones are about to get an amazing gift! What a thoughtful and exciting gift you are wanting to give! You can most definitely purchase tickets to give as a gift, but you will need to make initial reservations for these tickets to get through the purchase process. This shouldn't be a big deal because ticket reservations can be canceled or modified as many times as needed through the validity of the ticket. So once you've gifted the tickets, the recipients can go in and modify the reservations for new dates that work for them.

The only thing I would keep in mind is the ticket type. If you are planning on purchasing a multiday ticket, there shouldn't be any issue. However, one-day tickets are tiered. For example, if you choose a random day for a reservation and it is a Tier 2 day, your recipient would only be able to modify their reservation for another day that is Tier 2 or below. The tiered days go up to Tier 6, so you may want to reserve a day for Tier 6 so that your recipient will be free to pick a day that works best for them without limited availability.

Once you've purchased the tickets, you will just need to share the Ticket ID numbers with the recipients and they can add them to their own Disney account in the Disneyland app. From there, they will be able to modify reservations and scan into the park with their digital ticket.

Suzanne, I hope this information is helpful! I am so excited for you to give this magical gift!
