Welcome to planDisney Michelle, and thanks for bringing us your question! It sounds like you're getting ready for a magical day of park hopping at
Walt Disney World Resort. With recent updates to the Lightning Lane system, planning ahead can make a big difference in how much you experience throughout the day. I’d be happy to walk you through how Lightning Lane passes work across multiple parks so you can make the most of your visit.
At Disney World you can purchase
Lightning Lane Single Pass for two different parks in advance, as long as you have a Park Hopper ticket. You do not need to wait until you use your first one.
You are allowed to buy up to two Single Lightning Lane passes per day, and they can be for any eligible attractions in any park, even if those parks are different. This can be done ahead of time during your advance booking window (up to 7 days before your visit if you're staying at a Disney Resort, or 3 days ahead for everyone else).
In addition, if you are using the Lightning Lane Multi-Pass, you must choose one park to start with. You can preselect up to three attractions in that park. Once you use your first selection that day, you are then allowed to make additional Multi-Pass selections for any park.
To sum up, you can absolutely book Single Lightning Lane passes at two different parks in advance. You do not need to wait until one is used before securing the second. Just make sure you have Park Hopper access on your ticket to take full advantage of this flexibility.
I hope you find this information helpful, Michelle. Thank you again for visiting planDisney. We'll see ya real soon!
