I see you’ve been visiting planDisney, and Walt Disney World, for many years now, so thanks for sending us another question!
Unfortunately, the older version of MagicBands have been discontinued. They are no longer available to purchase on
DisneyStore.com or through the Walt Disney World website. Some of my fellow panelists have reported finding older MagicBands available in Walt Disney World merchandise locations, however this is subject to availability and not guaranteed.
Ordering your
MagicBand+ in advance gives you the opportunity to customize the band with your name, and link the band to your My Disney Experience app in advance. But you can easily link the band to your app after purchasing in the theme parks as well. If you’re on the fence about ordering a MagicBand+, I recommend waiting until you arrive in Walt Disney World. You can look through the variety of designs and maybe find one with a character or attraction you like, or even a solid color. The MagicBand+ can add an extra bit of pixie dust to your park visits, just a few weeks ago I glanced down at my MagicBand+ to see it flashing and lighting up along with Luminous. The MagicBand+ lights also interact with some attractions, like Frozen Ever After and Haunted Mansion. The MagicBand+ can be used to enter the theme parks, and if you’re staying in a Disney Resort, you can also use your MagicBand+ to open your Resort room and
charge theme park purchases to the card on file with your room.
I’m sorry this wasn’t the news you were hoping for, Mike. Maybe you’ll find a MagicBand+ design that you really like! If not, there are other options like your
Key to the World card or
