Karandeep from NJ Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Can I purchase one park ticket and upgrade to park hopper on day of visit? Is it more expensive to upgrade on day of visit? What all activities options are available outside theme parks? Are there ticket options, if I do not want to be on any rides?

Hey Howdy hey Karandeep and welcome to planDisney!

It is exciting to hear that you will be visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth later this summer. There is so much going on at the Walt Disney World Resort and you picked a great time to visit the excitement of the parks. Before we get into the big news for the summer, let's talk about Theme Park Tickets being upgraded and get you set for your vacation. Giddy up!

In most cases, Disney will allow Guests that have unused Theme Park Tickets to be upgraded. You can do this by calling Disney and speaking to a Cast Member about upgrading or you can do this at any ticket window in front of the parks or at Disney Springs. Prices may vary from time to time and the higher prices are typically found at the gate. If you can, I would make sure you purchase your tickets in advance with any option, such as the Park Hopper Option, before you arrive onsite.

When you want to enter any of the 4 Theme Parks in Walt Disney World, you are required to purchase a ticket. There are no longer any options to purchase tickets if you do not want to experience any attractions, I am sorry to say. One of the best parts about a trip to Walt Disney World is that most attractions are created with multigenerational families in mind. There is so much for the whole family to enjoy that it might be hard to visit the parks without experiencing any attractions!

If you are planning a day or more outside of the parks, you will have so much to do. Resort hopping is one of my big tips for anyone wanting to spend some time outside of the parks. You are free to visit any resort on the property and enjoy dining, shopping and entertainment. Getting there is also half the fun! You can take any of the complimentary forms of Resort Transportation to these resorts as well. Experiencing the Walt Disney World Monorail or Disney Skyliner is like experiencing attractions outside of the parks! It can be a great way to spend an afternoon, evening or a full day.

As I said earlier, there is so much excitement going on in the parks this summer. One of the big recent announcements was that the rethemed Tiana's Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom will be opening this summer. While a formal date has yet to be announced, make sure you follow along at Disney Parks Blog where you will hear it first there!

I hope this information was helpful to answer your questions and get you ready for your upcoming trip to the Vacation Kingdom. Please feel free to stop back if you have any further questions, we are always happy to help!
