Fireworks at Magic Kingdom

April from OH Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

If I purchase a one day ticket to Magic Kingdom for a specific date, am I guaranteed entry for that day? We will be in Orlando prior to a cruise on July 4th, but don’t arrive until 4pm. I would still like to spend the evening in Magic Kingdom.

Hi there, April. What a pleasure it is to welcome you to planDisney in your very own month of the year!

A stop by The Most Magical Place before boarding your cruise ship sounds practically perfect. In my opinion, there's no better place than Walt Disney World Resort to enjoy Independence Day fireworks. If you think Happily Ever After is incredible, wait until you see the showstopping display unveiled each Fourth of July!

Of course, because the celebration is so spectacular, it's in high demand, so theme parks often fill to capacity on this day. Currently, only certain ticket types require a theme park reservation that would guarantee Guests entry to their reserved theme park regardless of arrival time. These ticket types include student group tickets, sport and convention tickets, Walt Disney World Resort Annual Passes, Florida Resident Discover Disney Tickets, and Disney Military Salute Tickets. Because you indicated that you are in need of a date-based ticket, your ticket type will not require a theme park reservation and is subject to capacity limitations at Walt Disney World Resort theme parks. If Magic Kingdom Park were to reach capacity before your arrival, then you would be unable to enter until the restrictions were lifted.

While I am sure this is not what you were hoping to hear, April, I'm happy to reassure you that all hope is not lost for a magical July 4th! Patriotic celebrations can be found across Walt Disney World Resort, and because your theme park ticket does not require a reservation, you'll be free to head in any direction! As a United States history teacher, I'm particularly fond of EPCOT's festivities. You'll also find that Magic Kingdom Park's fireworks displays can be enjoyed from outside the theme park. By making a dining reservation at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, or Disney's Contemporary Resort, you'll have access to incredible fireworks views without capacity concerns and with a bit more elbow room.

I hope this was helpful, April, and that you are able to celebrate life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and your upcoming cruise in The Most Magical Place on Earth. If you have any additional questions about visiting Walt Disney World Resort, don't hesitate to stop back by. I'm happy to be your right-hand man!

    Huzzah,
    Lizzie
