Ahoy Rachel,
Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your thoughtful question. I’m excited to see that you have a wonderful
Disney Cruise Line vacation on the horizon and are planning ahead!
It seems you are familiar with
purchasing onboard credit in advance of your sailing through
Onboard Gifts and Amenities; I also love doing this as a way to use those
Disney Reward Dollars or Disney gift cards seamlessly. Once you’ve purchased the onboard credit for yourself, you’ll receive a notice in your stateroom confirming the amount has been applied as a reminder when you sail. This credit will be applied to your stateroom folio before any additional charges are made to the credit card on file you indicated through online check-in.
I confirmed with a helpful Cast Member that yes, any unused funds will automatically be returned to the original method of payment for the onboard credit. This includes any Disney gift cards and the Disney Rewards Redemption Card, so please be sure to hold onto those physical cards after your purchase. This will happen without any action from you, but you may always stop by Guest Services on the ship to confirm your anticipated transactions the last night of your cruise.
Be sure to bring your Disney Visa credit card with you so that you can
receive discounts on merchandise as available onboard, Rachel. If the Visa wasn’t your primary method of payment on your stateroom and doesn’t indicate your Disney Visa cardholder affiliation on your Key to the World Card, you can present it in person for those special discounts.
Please let us know how else we can help you prepare for this amazing holiday sailing!
Wishing you a magical cruise,
Amy
