Hello - I want to purchase a MagicBand+ for my 9-year-old daughter but it doesn't look like there are any child versions available. Are they one-size-fits-all? Are there more options at the resort stores or online?

    Hi Erin,

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. I am happy to share my experience buying a MagicBand+ for my little one.

You can find a wide selection of MagicBand+ at World of Disney (located in Downtown Disney), The Emporium (located in Disneyland), and Oswald’s (located in Disney California Adventure). As you mentioned, the MagicBand+ is one-size-fits-all. The wristband portion has an inner layer and an outer layer. You can remove the outer layer so the MagicBand+ has a snug fit on smaller wrists.

I’ve purchased two MagicBand+ for my little one, who is 4, and I haven’t had an issue with the band being too big for her. I’ve also never removed the outer layer because I want the band to grow with her. Instead, I just loop the band around her wrist. I also like to keep the wristband as-is in case I decide to “borrow” her MagicBand+ for solo trips!

Just in case, here’s a quick reminder of how to link your tickets to a MagicBand+:

    1) Launch the Disneyland app.
    2) Tap the three bars in the bottom right corner.
    3) Scroll down to the Account section and tap MagicBand+.
    4) Tap the "+" button in the top right corner to add a new MagicBand+ (make sure the MagicBand+ is close to your device), or...
    5) You can assign tickets to an existing MagicBand+ that you’ve already linked to your account.

There are so many cool things you and your family will be able to do with your MagicBand+ around the parks. For the 70th Anniversary, there are some interactive locations you can use your MagicBand+ at, and some even give you cool souvenir “tickets”! Your MagicBand+ also lights up in sync with the nighttime shows. I feel like I’m part of the performance when mine glows along with Paint the Night, Wondrous Journeys, and World of Color Happiness!

I hope this information helps you with your vacation planning, Erin. If you have any more questions or need help with other parts of your trip, feel free to reach out to me or one of my fellow planDisney panelists. We’d love to share more tips and ideas to make your vacation truly unforgettable.

    Have a magical vacation!
