Can I purchase a MagicBand from shop Disney and bring it with me to the All Star Movies resort I'm staying at and then have the hotel reservation desk link them for me?

Welcome back to planDisney, Micki! We’re so happy to see you again.

I'm delighted to hear you are planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation this fall! You are in for a special treat with Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary Celebration. There are special celebratory sprinkles of pixie dust everywhere in honor of the big five-o, including the stunning Beacons of Magic located at each of the four theme parks. I promise you have never seen the theme park icons quite like this before, having been transformed with EARidescent color and light. I’d have to say my favorite is the spectacular projection on The Hollywood Tower Hotel at Disney's Hollywood Studios. If you look close enough, you'll see some of the hotel's haunting guests enjoying some swing dancing in the ballroom at the top of the hotel. See, everyone is joining in on the celebration!

Micki, you can absolutely bring your MagicBands to the front desk of Disney's All-Star Movies Resort, and they will be more than happy to get that linked up to your account. However, it’s actually quite simple to link it up from home! All you’ll need to do is follow the steps below:

    • First, log into your My Disney Experience app.
    • Next, navigate “MagicBands and More” from the menu (the three stacked lines on the bottom right corner).
    • From there, scroll down and click on “Link Your MagicBand or Card.”
    • On this page, you can type the ID from the back of the band manually. Alternatively, if you’ve purchased the new MagicBand+, you can link it to your account with just a tap by clicking on the “Open Scanner” button. How easy is that?!

By linking your MagicBand at home and utilizing Direct-to-Room Service, you can skip the front desk line altogether and dive right into the fun of your vacation. You’ll just need to complete the Online Check-In process in your My Disney Experience app before you arrive. To do so, just open the menu on the bottom right corner of your My Disney Experience app and click on "Resort Hotel." From there, you will see the option to complete your Online Check-in. Then, on the day you check in to your Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you'll get real-time updates on the status of your room and will be notified as soon as it is ready! You can even view your room number and unlock the door all from your My Disney Experience app! How cool is that?

I do hope this has been helpful, Micki! Please feel free to pop back over with any other questions as you finalize your vacation plans. We would love to help you make the absolute most of your Walt Disney World Resort Vacation!

    See you real soon!
