Ahoy, Stephanie!
Welcome aboard planDisney! It sounds like you and your crew are setting sail on the ultimate land and sea adventure, and I just know you’re going to have a practically magical time!
The great news is that you can absolutely purchase a
MagicBand+ to use for both your Disneyland Resort visit and your Disney Cruise Line voyage. As long as it’s a MagicBand+ (the “plus” is key here—no regular MagicBands will work), it will function seamlessly in both destinations. The only real difference between a MagicBand+ and a DisneyBand+ is the design—DisneyBand+ features some fun cruise-themed options and a few extra lighting effects, but otherwise, they work exactly the same.
Since MagicBand+ can’t currently be shipped outside the U.S., you’ll just want to pick one up once you arrive at Disneyland. You should find plenty of fun designs available in the parks and at Downtown Disney. Just remember, once a MagicBand+ is linked to someone,
it’s theirs forever—no take-backs or swaps—so choose wisely!
One thing to keep in mind when you board the Wonder is that while adults and younger kids can use their MagicBand+ for stateroom access, onboard purchases, and tapping in and out of the ship, teens planning to
visit Edge or Vibe will still need to use their Key to the World cards to enter. Hopefully, that changes in the future, but for now, it’s something to consider before purchasing bands for older kids.
Wishing you smooth sailing, fairy-tale moments, and just enough pixie dust to make your vacation extra magical!
Sea ya real soon with luck in the air and magic everywhere,
Dustin
