I want to purchase a Magic Key pass for my fiancé. I am paying for it as a gift, however, her license is Arizona as she has not moved to California yet with me. Will I still be able to finance the pass since I'm a CA resident and paying for it?

Hi Brandyn! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney.

What a thoughtful gift! I'm sure she would be thrilled with the gift of a year of magic with the Magic Key. Along with increased access to the theme parks, you can also enjoy perks, discounts, and exclusive merchandise. My favorite Magic Key resource is the official Disneyland Magic Key blog. That's where I learned about the exclusive Magic Key holder complimentary keepsake pin I recently picked up at Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite.

I do want to let you know that all sales of Magic Keys except for the Inspire Key are paused. That includes the Imagine Key, which is the pass for residents of Southern California. The availability of the Magic Keys could change, but at the moment, the Imagine Key is only open for renewal, not new purchases. Maybe by the time she has her government-issued ID showing her Southern California address, the Imagine Key will be available again. Disneyland Resort terms do require that the holder of the Magic Key be able to show a government-issued ID at the gates to prove residence, regardless of who paid for the pass.

I hope your plans for gifting a Magic Key work out, whether you select the Inspire Key or wait for the Imagine Key to become available again, once your fiancée has established permanent residence in Southern California.

    Have a magical day!
