Hi Ryan! Thanks for dropping by planDisney to ask me your question.
With
Lightning Lanes, there are two options: Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane Entrances and Individual Lightning Lane Entrances. It sounds as if you're referring to Individual Lightning Lanes, which are à la carte purchases that allow you to select a return window for one of Disneyland Resort's most high-demand attractions. This is a great option to secure a sought-after ride and reduce time spent in line. Not a bad thing with little ones! Pricing for Individual Lightning Lanes varies by date and attraction, and once you purchase an Individual Lightning Lane, it is non-refundable.
To help ensure your grandson doesn't change his mind after you've made a purchase, you might try having him watch guest ride videos posted on social media channels. I prepped my little boys for
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance by watching videos. If they'd been hesitant after watching, we would have skipped the Individual Lightning Lane, but my little Jedi Knights ended up loving the attraction, and purchasing the Individual Lightning Lane was a huge convenience for our family.
There's plenty of magic to experience if your grandson is feeling less adventurous. Some of my boys' favorites are
"it's a small world" in Fantasyland in Disneyland Park and
Toy Story Midway Mania! in Pixar Pier in Disney California Adventure Park. And starting January 27, 2023,
Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway will be open in
Mickey's Toontown!
I think it's so great you're taking your grandson to Disneyland Resort! My boys have gone with their grandparents, and they had the absolute best time. Enjoy your visit!
