How do I purchase Genie + before my trip? I already have park reservations and tickets. I went on-line but it was not helpful. Thanks, Robert

Hiya Robert - welcome to planDisney!

Thanks so much for stopping by with your question for our team of panelists. We love to help Guests just like you plan magical Walt Disney World Resort vacations! I'm so excited that you'll be visiting this week - the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary is in full swing with exciting new attractions, entertainment, food, and so much more!

The new Disney Genie+ Service is a great way to experience some of your favorite attractions and experiences with reduced wait times. With Genie+, you'll be able to make Lightning Lane selections throughout the day to help you bypass the standby queue. Once you use one Lightning Lane selection (or if two hours have passed since you made that selection) you'll be able to make another selection! I've used Genie+ on a couple of recent trips and have found it helpful as I try to experience as much of what the Theme Parks have to offer as possible!

Currently, if you did not add Genie+ when purchasing tickets, you'll be purchasing it each day that you'd like to use it. While some Guests do like the convenience of pre-purchasing, I actually think purchasing it on the day you'll use it is wiser, especially if you've not used it before. You might find that after a day or two, your crew doesn't need it, and thus might decide to skip it on subsequent days. Or, you may only want it on days when you visit certain parks, or for only certain Guests in your crew - purchasing day by day allows you that flexibility.

Starting at Midnight, you can use your My Disney Experience Mobile App to purchase Genie+. Simply navigate to My Day, either from the home screen or by tapping the menu button (three horizontal bars in the lower right corner) and the tapping My Genie Day. Scroll down a bit and you'll see a purple bar that says Get Disney Genie+ for Today. Tap there, and you'll be able to select the Guests in your crew for whom you'd like to purchase Genie+ for that day!

There are a couple of tips I want you to keep in mind. First, be sure that everyone in your party who you want to purchase Genie+ for is linked to you through your Family & Friends list. Second, I recommend completing your Genie+ purchase before 7 a.m. each day. That's the time at which you can make your first Lightning Lane selection each day via the Tip Board, and some attractions can fill up early in the day. Finally, keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog as well as any email or app communications you might receive once you arrive - if there are any updates to these processes that's where you'll learn about them.

I hope this information is helpful. Have an amazing trip this week, and please let us know if you have any other questions!
