Hiya Charlotte,
Welcome to planDisney! We appreciate you bringing your planning question to us today. Genie+ is a new service for all of us, and just like anything else, it has a learning curve. Us panelists have spent a lot of time resEARching and playing around with
Genie+, so we are always happy to help Guests such as yourself navigate this “whole new world.”
To access the
Genie+ Lightning Lane entrances, all Guests must have a valid Genie+ reservation. So let’s say you are at EPCOT, and you wanted to ride one of my favorite attractions,
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (which is being offered as a Genie+ selection starting at the end of this month), with someone in your party. You would both need to have purchased Genie+ and reserved the Genie+ reservation time together to access the Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane Entrance and ride together. Otherwise, the only way you would be able to enjoy the attraction together would be for you both to wait in the standby line.
With that being said, you don’t always have to ride the same attractions if you use Genie+. My significant other and I have different favorite rides, and since I’m expecting a little Mouseketeer, I couldn’t ride some of his favorite thrill rides with him. But Hakuna Matata! He used his Genie+ reservation to secure Splash Mountain, and I chose to reserve Haunted Mansion for the same time for just myself using Genie+. After our respective rides, we met up for some DOLE Whip in Aloha Isle and reunited for our next joint Genie+ selection afterward.
I hope I was able to answer your question about Genie+, Charlotte. As I mentioned earlier, Genie comes with its own learning period, so if there is anything we can do to help you navigate it easier, please come back and see us!
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
