Can we purchase food in the MK and carry it with us on the raft/boat to take us to Tom Sawyer island and enjoy a picnic lunch there to get away from the crowds?

    Hi there Lisa,

The scenic, relaxing, and picturesque Tom Sawyer Island is the perfect picnic venue for families wishing to get away from it all!  There are several picnic tables and benches scattered throughout the island strategically placed beneath shady oaks with incredible views of the surrounding Rivers of America!

Food and drinks are permitted on the rafts that transport visitors to the island, and you are permitted to bring food from nearby quick-service dining locations with you aboard.  Since the dining locations in the park are not necessarily set up to provide "to go" packaging for their meals, each member of your party should be prepared to carry his own order over, as you probably won't be able to just toss it all into a bag and go.

Another fun option would be to visit the grab and go section of your resort's food court before arriving at the Magic Kingdom.  You can purchase sealed sandwiches, chips, fresh fruits, and bottled beverages which can be tossed into a bag or personal soft-sided cooler.  This may be a more hassle-free way to transport your lunch over to Tom Sawyer Island!  If you weren't planning to bring a cooler, pack a few large ziploc bags, as they can be filled with ice to turn any bag into a cooler for a few hours!

    Best Wishes,
