Hiya, Crystal.
I’m so glad you followed Tinker Bell to Neverland and found your way to planDisney! I bet you’re more than a little excited to experience all the EARidescent excitement of
The World’s Most Magical Celebration in only a few months. I know I would be!
The FastPass+ system is now-retired and has been replaced with
Disney Genie+ service and Individual
Lightning Lanes. While FastPass+ was complimentary, Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes can be utilized for a small fee per person per day. Thankfully, you can customize your
theme parks tickets by adding on Disney Genie+ service for the length of your ticket during the checkout process (as long as your ticket is two days or longer). You also have the option of purchasing Disney Genie+ one day at a time via the Tip Board in your
My Disney Experience app starting at 12:00 a.m. midnight on the day you wish to use it.
What are these new systems, and how do they work? I’m glad you asked! Disney Genie+ service saves your place in line at more than 40 attractions across all four theme parks by allowing you access to Lightning Lane entrances. You can make your first Disney Genie+ service Lightning Lane selection starting at 7:00 a.m., so be on the Tip Board and ready to go at that time. Click "Book Experience" under the attraction, then walk through the steps to complete your booking. You can continue booking Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane selections every two hours or after utilizing a selection, whichever comes first.
Additionally, Individual Lightning Lanes entrances are available at two attractions in each of the theme parks for an additional fee per person per attraction (this is in addition to Disney Genie+ service). You may purchase up to two of these per day.
Disney Resorts Collection hotel Guests have the benefit of purchasing Individual Lightning Lanes beginning at 7:00 a.m. on the morning of use via the Tip Board in their My Disney Experience app, while all other Guests can make their purchases beginning at the official
park opening time. Simply click on the selection you wish to purchase and complete the steps to finalize your booking. Unlike Disney Genie+ service Lightning Lanes, you will be able to choose an arrival window for Individual Lightning Lanes, so have a time in mind ahead of purchasing them.
As for the second portion of your question, unfortunately,
Walt Disney World theme park tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable, meaning you cannot get a refund. If you cancel your trip, you will receive a credit in the amount you paid for the tickets that can be used to purchase tickets for a future trip. Alternatively, you could simply change the date on your ticket to align with the dates of a future trip, as long as you do so before the original start date of your ticket.
Crystal, I hope this helps. Please stop by planDisney again soon if we can answer further questions for you. Have a magical trip!
Until next time,
Alyssa
