Hey there, Leticia! Thanks for bringing this great question to planDisney. I read your question and was immediately filled with excitement and nostalgia, as the
Main Street Electrical Parade and the movie Pete’s Dragon both hold a special place in my heart.
Leticia, guess what - the beautiful Light-up Elliott Dragon Premium Bucket became available starting April 22! It is available in select locations, subject to change:
~ The Ice Cream Cart near Autopia
~ The Popcorn Carts at Town Square, Hub (across from Jolly Holiday Bakery Café), Small World Promenade, Fantasyland Theater, Tomorrowland, and Frontierland
~ Galactic Grill (mobile order)
~ Hungry Bear (mobile order)
~ Troubadour Tavern (mobile order)
As you can imagine, the demand for this special item will be high, and availability will be limited. If you can’t get one on your first try, keep checking throughout the summer during future visits.
Back to why Elliott is so special to me....the movie Pete’s Dragon was released in 1977 and I watched this movie with my little sister hundreds of times. It's a significant piece of our childhood. I still remember the day our parents purchased the VHS cassette for us in the glossy padded case! We loved our escape to Passamaquoddy with Pete, Nora and Lampie and were deeply immersed in the film each time we watched it. Elliott is one of the most endearing beings and the reason I love dragons. Pete and Elliott’s bond taught us so much about friendship, imagination, and love.
I hope you can find your Light-up Elliott Dragon Premium Bucket and enjoy the warm, buttery popcorn while you sway to the sweet and whimsical tune of the Main Street Electrical Parade! The lights, the colors, the sounds, the excitement - so much to revel in! My parents still talk about how at the end of the day, my little sister and I would negotiate with them to stay for the Main Street Electrical Parade, if we promised not to fall asleep so they wouldn't have to carry us back to the tram! Mom says we didn't always make good on that promise but she cherishes those memories of snuggling with us while we watched the parade with pure wonderment and adoration. This is Disney magic to me.
By the way, we just released the latest episode of the
planDisney Podcast, which includes lots of tips about Disneyland Resort, including the Nighttime Spectaculars. There’s also an exclusive conversation with Veronica Horton, a very special Cast Member whose team worked on the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade!
I hope your visit is full of light, love and magic!
