Hi Yael! Welcome to planDisney! You have come to the perfect place to get all your questions answered about Disney Genie+. With the new service being introduced back in October, many Guests have been unable to experience it just yet.
To purchase
Disney Genie+ for just one day of your stay, you will need to do so on the day of your park reservation. I would suggest making the purchase prior to the 7 AM window. To order, log on to your
My Disney Experience App and tap on “My Genie Day”. Once here, select the purple bar that reads “Get Disney Genie+ for Today”. This will then prompt you to select the Guests in your party that would like to purchase Genie+. The cost to use the service is broken down by the individual, so not everyone in your party must buy it. On my most recent trip, my wife and I purchased Genie+ for just the two of us and did not buy the service for our children. Our plan for that day was to ride some of the larger attractions that they would not be able to experience.
Now that you have
Disney Genie+ purchased, you will be allowed to make your first Lightning Lane reservation starting at 7 AM. You are not required to make your first reservation at this time, but if you plan on selecting one of the popular attractions included in this service, I recommend you do so. For example, if you want to reserve a time slot to ride
Slinky Dog Dash, you will most likely need to make this reservation around the 7 AM time frame. These time slots go quickly, and you may not have another chance to make one later in the day. On my most recent trip, I found this to be true of the bigger attractions. We did use a different method while at the
Magic Kingdom Park and decided to go after the less popular attractions being that my children are younger. I found that making a reservation at 7 AM was not needed for this approach.
Disney Genie+ is a great benefit to have if you do not want to wait in lines throughout the day. Our children can get restless, and sometimes myself included. We prefer to grab a snack or watch a Cavalcade going by instead of waiting in the standby queue for an attraction.
Yael, I hope this information is helpful for your upcoming visit. If you have any additional questions, please
