Can we purchase a dining plan without staying in a Disney world resort?

Hey there, Jessica! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

There are so many great things about visiting the Walt Disney World Resort. Let's see...amazing attractions...entertaining shows...meeting your favorite Disney pals...what am I missing?

Oh, right. The food! From sweet treats to fine dining, food at Walt Disney World is practically an attraction in itself. For Walt Disney World Guests, a Disney Dining Plan is available when you book a vacation package that includes a stay in a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. Because it's linked to a Resort hotel stay, the Disney Dining Plan isn't available for Guests staying offsite.

But never fear, Jessica! I have an idea that I hope will help you plan for your dining experiences at Walt Disney World!

One great way to plan ahead for Disney dining is to buy Disney Gift Cards to use when paying for your meals. You can buy them online or at many retail locations (I've even seen them in my local grocery store), and they're accepted almost everywhere at Walt Disney World. Just determine your budget ahead of time, pick up Gift Cards in the amount you need, and use them to pay as you go. It's easy and convenient, and many people find it to be a better alternative to paying with cash or credit card.

And Jessica, you can make dining reservations up to 180 days in advance, so it's never too soon to start planning!

I hope this helps you fuel up on some of that amazing Walt Disney World food, Jessica. Please stop by and see us again if you have any more questions!

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
