Can you just purchase the dining plan for Mom and Dad and then just pay for what the kids eat out of pocket? Seems like a waste of money for a picky 10yo to be be charged for an adult meal. Thanks!

    Hi, Teresa!

I’m glad to hear you’re planning a vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort! I personally like the Disney Dining Plan because it’s a convenient way to save money while enjoying a variety of the delicious food the resort restaurants have to offer.

One of the conditions of the Disney Dining Plan is that you must purchase it for every person staying in your room who is age 3 and older if you wish to participate. However, no matter which of the five versions of the Disney Dining Plan you choose, it is flexible and you’re not required to use the same amount of credits each day. You can choose to use fewer (or none) on some days and more on others, perhaps using two table-service credits for a Signature Dining experience or big buffet breakfast. You could also select a plan that focuses more on quick-service dining and snacks if you think that would better suit your 10-year-old's eating habits.

I hope this helps, Teresa. Please feel free to visit me again if you have any other questions as you continue to plan your pixie-dusted vacation!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
