Want to purchase the DDP - my son will be 10 (adult plan). He is a very picky eater - will only eat Kraft mac & cheese spirals, pizza, chicken nuggets, & fish & chips. Does DW offer any food leniency or can I get the DDP for 3 of us and pay f

    Hello, Susan!

I have one formerly picky eater (now 14) and one foodie (now 10), and I credit Walt Disney World's Dining Plan with helping me get to this point with both!

First, the DP must be purchased for every person on your reservation, for every night of your stay, so the DP for all is a must. Not to worry, though! This is a blessing in disguise. ;-)

That mac-n-cheese and chicken nugget fan? Yup. Been there. What's great about the DP is that there is always something on the menu that sounds like what a cautious kid might like, and sometimes restaurants will let certain sides be interchanged between one entree and another. Ask your server what's possible; you might be surprised by the efforts to keep all of the diners happy.

Look at the menus of various restaurants before making your Advanced Dining Reservations, so that you're selecting locations which offer something your son will like. If a menu is not posted on the restaurant's page on Walt Disney World.com, look at allears.net, an unofficial source of information on everything Disney. Hover over "Walt Disney World" and select "Dining." From there, search for the restaurant of choice and you'll see a sample menu, including costs.

Include some buffet meals, too, because they all have a special kids' buffet, which will include mac-n-cheese, pizza and chicken nuggets. However, because there are so many wonderful other items there, too, you may find your cautious eater selecting an item or two per meal that he'd never get on a kids' menu, resulting in a greater variety in his likes, too!

Send me another question about specifics you'd like to try, and I'll send you a list of restaurants and menu choices I think your son will like after all. I'd love to help!
