Hello, I am about to purchase a 14 day ticket to cover all the parks in Disney Orlando, however, I just read on youtube that there are charges to go on certain rides is this correct?

Hiya there, Dawn. Thanks for reaching out to me with your question!

It looks like you're going to be surrounded by the magic of the Walt Disney World Resort very soon! And I can't wait for you to experience all that awaits you. There are so many newer experiences like Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, and so much more at EPCOT. And this park is hosting the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival until May 27, 2024. And that's just one of the parks! There's always something new to discover.

I'm happy to report that your standard theme park ticket will grant you access to the majority of the attractions and shows at the theme parks. While there are Enchanting Extras that you can add to your visit, these are usually specialty experiences. The video that you were watching was likely referring to the Disney Genie+ Service and Individual Lightning Lanes. These are optional purchases that you can make that will grant you access to the Lightning Lane entrance to many attractions at the theme parks for a shorter wait. But regular standby queues or Virtual Queues are available at pretty much every one of these rides for no additional cost!

Here's what you need to know:

    • Most attractions have a standby queue. You'll see the wait time posted at the entrance to the attraction and you can simply wait as per usual. I like to use the handy My Disney Experience mobile app to keep track of waits.
    • Currently, 2 attractions at the resort do not have a standby queue: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT and TRON Lightcycle / Run Presented by Enterprise in Magic Kingdom Park. If you'd like to ride these rides, you can try for a spot in the Virtual Queue. The opportunity to try for a spot is included in the price of your ticket. You'll use the My Disney Experience mobile app to try for a Boarding Group at 7 a.m. from anywhere or 1 p.m. from inside the park in which the ride is located. You can only be enrolled in one Virtual Queue at a time and can only get a spot in each ride's Virtual Queue once a day (subject to availability).
    • If you'd like to skip the standby queue and access the Lightning Lane for a shorter wait to over 40 attractions at the resort, you can purchase the Disney Genie+ Service. This goes on sale each morning and allows you to reserve Lightning Lanes, one at a time, throughout the day. You can make your first reservation at 7 a.m. For shorter waits at some of the most popular rides, you can purchase Individual Lightning Lanes. These are priced per person, per ride and you can buy up to 2 a day. These go on sale at 7 a.m. for Guests staying at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel and when the parks open for all other Guests. You can choose to purchase any combination of these services or none at all. The power is in your hands!
    • You can also use the standard Disney Genie Service to help plan your day, which is currently included with your ticket. When you're at the resort, open up the mobile app, click the 3 horizontal lines (☰) in the bottom right-hand corner, select "Today's Plans," and you should land on the "My Day" tab. Here, you can tell the service your preferences and it will come up with a personalized itinerary of suggested experiences and when is best to experience them!
    • I don't often use bullets in my answer, so Dawn, you should feel pretty special.
I hope I've clarified everything for you. If you have any other questions, even if the answer doesn't involve the use of bullets, please ask away!

Now is the time to seize the day,
