Hello, Debbie! Welcome to planDisney. Let's do what we do here best: answer your
Disney vacation planning question with a smile!
While you
can upgrade a 4-day
theme park ticket with the
Park Hopper Option to Park Hopper Plus after using three days, it is not recommended as you will have to pay for it for the
entire length of your ticket. So, no matter
when you add the Park Hopper Plus Option, you will be paying the price for it to be added to
all four days of the ticket. Furthermore, it will not extend
the expiration window of your ticket, which, for a 4-day theme park ticket, is seven days after the start date. So, you will just have less time to enjoy those Park Hopper Plus benefits. Instead, I would highly recommend doing it at the start of your vacation or before you arrive at the resort. To answer your second question, if you want to add another day to your theme park ticket while at the resort, you may do so, but I would recommend doing it before you leave the park on your 4th day. This should extend your theme park ticket window expiration to 8 days after the original start date of your ticket (instead of 7). Furthermore, if you are adding a day
and the Park Hopper Plus Option together in the middle of your ticket window, you would be charged for adding another day
and the Park Hopper Plus Option for all five days of the ticket.
I have a piece of advice for you while making your decision: plan out which of the Park Hopper Plus options you'll be using and when. This will help to determine if that particular upgrade will be worth it for you. To get the most value out of it, you'll want to ensure you are taking advantage of those other options as many times as you can. To clarify, the Park Hopper Plus Option allows you entry into those extra experiences four times with a four-day theme park ticket or five times with a five-day theme park ticket. If you only want to experience one or two of these options, you may want to look into how much it would cost to purchase admission to them separately. If it's cheaper, then the Park Hopper Plus option may not be worth it for you.
If you're really not sure if you'll be using a 5th day in the parks but
will be using the Park Hopper Plus benefits throughout your ticket window, I would highly recommend upgrading your 4-day theme park ticket ahead of your visit to include the Park Hopper Plus Option (or at the latest, toward the end of your first day in the parks). This way, you'll have the Park Hopper Plus benefits throughout your entire ticket window, and if you then decide to add a day, you'd likely only be paying the difference between a 4-day ticket with the Park Hopper Plus benefits and a 5-day ticket with the same benefits. To be on the safe side, make sure you do this before the end of your 4th day in the parks.
Debbie, I've probably given you a lot to think about, but I hope I've been helpful. If you have any other questions,
I'm happy to answer them!
Follow me, my friend, to glory at the end,
