Ahoy there, Tiffany! Welcome aboard planDisney! I see you're going above and beyond into "planDrew-approved" status by thinking of all the different unexpected things that could happen - you're in good company! While I sometimes drive myself crazy - ok, drive my wife crazy - with all the contingency planning, on the rare occasion that something does happen, all the time spent worrying is worth it!
While it's never fun to think about having to miss out on a cruise, I have good news as you finish planning for your sailing in just a few weeks! For any pre-cruise purchases made for items like onboard credit, amenities, gifts, or similar, if your reservation is canceled, these types of pre-purchases would be refunded to the credit card used for the reservation! This is especially good news if you plan to take advantage of some of the temporary
flexible booking policies currently in place.
We actually experienced this firsthand a few weeks ago when we had to cancel our 3-Night Bahamian Itinerary on the
Disney Dream. I'm pleased to report that everything worked without issue, so while there are no guarantees, I do highly suggest taking every precaution! Oh, one more thing to remember - promotional credits like onboard credit you receive from booking your next Disney Cruse Line vacation while aboard are not refundable, so in the event of cancellation you simply would not receive those credits.
While I hope your plans don't get put on hold, Tiffany, if for some reason they would, now you know you've got a friend in me...er...the Disney Cruise Line crew members! Thank you so much for your question, and if any others surface while you are putting the finishing touches on your planning, please drop me another line here at planDisney!
Until then, I'll SEA ya real soon!
Andrew
