Hello and welcome to
planDisney, James! Thanks for stopping by with a question for me.
James, I've been a
Walt Disney World Annual Passholder for years now and absolutely love it. At this point, I can't imagine not having it. It's so fun to be able to hop in the car and head down to Walt Disney World practically any time I'd like to enjoy the theme parks. Plus, the complimentary parking and discounts on food, merchandise and select resort stays are pretty amazing too.
When you purchase a brand new Walt Disney World Annual Pass online, you'll actually be given the ticket number. What you'll do is take that number and link it to your
MyDisneyExperience account. Even though your Walt Disney World Annual Pass won't be activated, the system will recognize that you do indeed have tickets and let you make park pass reservations. You'll notice when you first link your brand new Walt Disney World Annual Pass the expiration date will be one year from your purchase date. That's basically just saying you have one year to activate your annual pass. Activation actually occurs when you use it to enter a Walt Disney World Theme Park for the first time. When you do, you'll see a new expiration date reflected in your MyDisneyExperience account.
James, I did want to let you know that the sale of most new Walt Disney World Annual Passes has been put temporarily on pause again. Right now the only annual pass you are able to purchase is the
Disney Pixie Dust Pass. This annual pass is available to Florida residents only and allows entry most weekdays but does have blockout dates around peak and holiday times. If you are wanting a Walt Disney World Annual Pass with a little bit more flexibility in the days you can visit, I suggest waiting to purchase your new pass. I don't think the temporary pause will last too long, probably just through the holiday season.
I hope this helps, James. If you have any other questions about this or anything else, please stop back by and
ask me. I'm happy to help.
Have a great holiday season and enjoy!
