If I purchase an annual pass now, but will not be using it in the parks until September can I still get a discount for the marathon registration that occurs in a few weeks? Thank you.

Welcome to planDisney, Larry! It's so nice to virtually meet you. Taking on a runDisney race feels a bit like a Mulan moment to me, stepping up to a challenge and seeing what you're capable of.

I am not a runner, but I'm a bit jealous of those who compete in these races! The locations you often get to run through, those amazing medals, the unique character interactions. Finishing one of these races honestly sounds like a pretty heroic accomplishment. It all just makes me want to run. Maybe one day. I can walk pretty quickly and definitely can carb-load. Do you think that would count? As Mulan would ask, "When will my reflection show who I am inside?" So maybe one day that reflection will show a runner, but for now, I’ll happily cheer from the sidelines with a belly full of pasta!

There aren't typically discounts on runDisney races for Annual Passholders. That said, while you can typically apply Annual Passholder discounts once you've purchased an Annual Pass, the pass must be activated at the time you redeem the offer. For example, if you book a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel room with an available Annual Pass discount and don't have it activated at check-in, you will be charged the full, undiscounted rate for the room. So be sure to visit a Guest Relations location outside the parks or the Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs to activate it when you arrive on property in September!

Now, I mentioned carb-loading earlier, and you didn't think that was going to be it, did you? After all, eating a bunch of delicious carbohydrates the night before a race feels a little like waking up the ancestors. You want to make sure you're fully prepared for the challenge ahead! One of my favorite restaurants to eat at before my nonexistent races is Trattoria al Forno on Disney's BoardWalk. I've eaten there for breakfast and dinner, and both times the food was delicious and perfect for what I imagine prepping for a race would be! Of course, there are some other great locations like Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria in EPCOT, and I've heard the garlic bread at Tony's Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom Park is amazing! Cheese, garlic, and bread? What could be better?

As the Emperor says, "The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all," which feels pretty fitting for anyone tackling a marathon. Larry, best wishes, and I hope you enjoy every magical moment as an Annual Passholder! Please reach out again if you have any other questions.

You'll bring honor to us all,
    Matt
