Do any of you pull your kids out of school to go to Disney?? None of us can stand the heat or the crowds but I feel terrible for pulling their going to miss 5 days! Thanks!

    Hi, Dawn!

I am sure each Mom on this panel is just like every other parent and has their own views on taking kids out of school for vacation.  I happen to be the Mom who takes her kids out of school.  We schedule our trips over a weekends, and even better if they have a 3 day weekend if there is a records day or teacher meeting day.  I communicate clearly with the teachers ahead of time on what days we will be absent.  I give the teachers the option:  We are happy to take the schoolwork that we will miss with us or I will have the kids wait to get their missed assignments when we return.

We try not to take advantage of missing days, but I feel strongly about spending time as a family and with school, work, sports, and activity schedules, sometimes we have to make choices.  You have to choose what works best for your family. Only take your kids out if this will not cause stress for them.  Talk it over with their teachers to see what advice they can offer.

Good luck and I hope to See You Real Soon!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is sailing with Disney Cruise Line, running (or cheering!) at runDisney events, taking hula lessons at Aulani, or vacationing at the Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. I am proud to be a part of the planDisney team and cannot wait to share my tips and advice for a magical vacation
