I was so psyched to get an 8 a.m. ADR for Crystal Palace Feb 21 so that we could walk down Main Street and have a photo op in front of the castle before the park opens and then I read the Princess Half Marathon is that morning! Will this effect my plan?

    Hi, Jennifer!

I'm happy to hear you were able to get an Advanced Dining Reservation you were hoping for! Breakfast at the Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends is the perfect way to start a magical day.

First, I would love to know where you are staying and if you plan on taking theme park transportation? This information will help me to guide you with the amount of time you will need for traveling to the Magic Kingdom and the best way to get there on a race morning. I can safely say you will be somewhat affected by that morning's running of the Disney Princess Half Marathon, while most runners will be through the Magic Kingdom by the 9:00am official park opening time, 8:00am will see a few spectators still lingering and the last wave of runners coming through.

Even though the race starts at 5:30am, it will take just over an hour to get everyone on the course, which leaves Epcot Center Dr and heads straight down World Dr, through the toll gates, the Magic Kingdom parking lot and straight through the Transportation & Ticket Center before runners hit Main Street at mile 5.2. By my calculations, the last group of runners and pace bikes will be entering Magic Kingdom right about 8:00am. Luckily, you should see very light crowds for a good portion of the day.

I hope this helps, Jennifer! And please get back to me with any additional questions you may have regarding how this race weekend may affect your daily park plans. As the runDisney Specialist on the Panel, I am equipped to answers the questions our non-running vacation guests may have, too.
