It is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that I welcome you to planDisney, Shakah! Let us pull up a chair and talk about plant-based cuisine!
One of my favorite trips to the Most Magical Place on Earth was with my niece, who is also vegan. Before our trip, I was a bit worried about picking restaurants and meals, as I wanted our girls' trip to be perfect in every way. Vegan menus were new to me.
The quick answer to your question is that nearly every restaurant, if not all of them, offers vegan options. The best part: my niece never felt like her dining experience was less magical than mine. And the possibilities included variety with plant-based proteins, not just vegetables.
Walt Disney World has come a long way in its vegan meals. They even have a
website dedicated to plant-based culinary offerings at the theme parks and resorts. This is great for a sneak peek and to see just how many items there are at each restaurant. It's like window shopping on your cell phone!
You can also look for the leaf! There is a green leaf on the menus to indicate that a snack, appetizer, entree, or dessert is plant-based. It makes them easy to spot!
I will say my heart jumped for joy when my niece told me
DOLE Whips are vegan-friendly. Sitting on a bench in Adventureland, enjoying a DOLE Whip together, while Captain Jack stopped to have a quick chat with her... my heart and core memory bank were filled!
If you can get a reservation at
Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White, the Sorceress Spell of "Tricken" Chicken is one of the best meals my niece has ever had. When we get our Girls' Trip 2.0, this will definitely be on the menu!
In the Magic Kingdom,
Columbia Harbour House is one of my favorite quick-service restaurants, with meals that feel like table service without a reservation. Here, you can enjoy the Heart of Palm and Artichoke Roll. I would also order a side of green beans. If you ask, my understanding is that they can serve them without butter. They are so crisp and tasty!
My other favorite quick-serve is
Satu'li Canteen at Animal Kingdom Theme Park. I love their rice bowls. They have a Chili-Spiced Crispy Fried Tofu Bowl, a perfect blend of savory flavors and crispy textures. This restaurant is so popular,
mobile food ordering is key! The
My Disney Experience app makes it easy to order ahead and have it prepared when your dining window opens, and you are in the Pandora neighborhood.
Since you will be there during the most wonderful time of the year, there are special seasonal treats throughout Walt Disney World Resort. The green leaf will be a great guide to help you and your family find options that work for you. And always ask a Cast Member at the restaurants and kiosks. They are amazing and know more specifics about their locations.
If you have any other questions, please come back to
planDisney! I've loved thinking about my trip with my niece and sharing what I learned.
Bon Appétit!
