Hello there, Erica. Welcome to planDisney.
Giving the gift of magic in the form of
Walt Disney World Theme Park tickets is so special. Your family member is so generous for wanting to do that for you. Unfortunately,
Florida resident tickets are only meant for neighbors of Mickey Mouse and if you live out of the state of Florida you won't be able to use them to visit the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. To use Florida resident tickets you are required to show proof of residency at the ticket window to activate your tickets before entering any of the Walt Disney World Theme Parks so there really isn't a way around this.
One thought would be for your family member to apply the cost of the Florida resident ticket to a
Disney gift card instead. Then, over time, you and your other family members could save up the additional money it would take to purchase a standard theme park ticket/tickets. When you are ready to purchase those tickets you can use that Disney gift card plus your own money to buy the Walt Disney World Theme Park tickets instead.
I'm sorry I don't have better news for you, Erica. But I do think maybe the Disney gift card idea is a way to still enjoy the thoughtful gift and actually put it to use. I'd hate for your family member to go ahead and purchase the tickets and then you all not be able to use them. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions about this or anything else, please feel free to stop back by and
ask me. I'm happy to help.
Have a great day!
