Welcome to planDisney, Ricky!
I love hearing about proposals, and I see you’ve made plans to woo and marry your “Belle!" So, it is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that I am here to help you plan the perfect proposal.
If you haven’t already, I suggest making an advance dining reservation for
Be Our Guest Restaurant. When you make your reservation, you can also add on a
Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake. On the day of your reservation, you will be able to check in early through the My Disney Experience app. As you check in, you will have the chance to note if you are celebrating anything, in your case, a proposal or engagement.
When you arrive at the restaurant, approach the hostess stand and alert them that you plan on proposing. Let them know you would like the plate with “Will you marry me?” written in chocolate. You’ll be able to discuss the timing of the delivery with the Cast Member at this time. If you need a distraction, consider telling your future bride to check out the gargoyles at the base of the lamps that line the walkway into the restaurant.
Once you’ve enjoyed your meal and you are leaving Be Our Guest Restaurant with your new fiancé, make sure you stop by the stained-glass window near the exit. It’s straight from a scene in Beauty and the Beast, and you’ll be able to take a post-proposal photo featuring “something there that wasn’t there before!”
As an extra, I highly recommend booking a
Capture Your Moment session for after you propose. This is a 20 minute photo session with your own
PhotoPass photographer. If you’d like, you can tell the PhotoPass photographer that you want to take photos outside of Be Our Guest Restaurant or choose any other location in Magic Kingdom Park. The photographers will also have props and signs available to use during your photo session.
You should also make sure to stop by
Guest Relations in City Hall for a complimentary Celebration button. You can wear these buttons around the theme parks for the remainder of your vacation. It feels like a little extra pixie dust as you walk around the theme parks and receive congratulations on your engagement from Cast Members and fellow park Guests.
If you’d like to add another surprise, check out
Disney Floral & Gifts for celebration packages like flowers or gift baskets that can be delivered to your Disney Resort hotel. And of course, once you enter the wedding planning phase, I highly recommend visiting
Disney Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons to see if a Disney wedding fits your needs!
I hope this was helpful, Ricky! I’m so honored to have a small part in helping you plan your magical moment. Please
visit me again if you have any future planning questions!
Wishing you and your loved one a happily ever after,
Kaitlin
