Hi Patrick,
Welcome to planDisney! And congratulations on your impending engagement! I hope the magic of a Walt Disney World proposal carries through your wedding and, most importantly, many, many years of happiness together.
Whether you are planning a grand gesture in front of lots of people or an intimate proposal, I'm sure you will find the perfect spot to pledge your love. Because Walt Disney World is a popular place for proposals, The Disney Fairy Tale Wedding & Honeymoons site includes some engagement suggestions, such as Main Street USA in Magic Kingdom or in front of the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom. Those are great inspirations for the more high-profile proposals.
I've been married a very long time, since the days when proposals tended to be low-key and intimate. So I guess that's why I'm more inclined to think of quiet, private alcoves for your proposal. Since you mentioned that you'd like to propose at your resort, maybe you are on the same wavelength.
I'm not sure where you will be staying, but I can think of lovely, cozy spots across the resorts that might be perfect.
- The lawn at Grand Floridian, with Cinderella Castle in the background.
- The beach or a lush spot in the gardens at the Polynesian.
- On a shaded bench in a courtyard at Port Orleans French Quarter.
- Next to a statue of your partner's favorite Disney character at Art of Animation or All-Star Movies.
- On the verandah at Belle Vue Lounge above the Boardwalk.
- With a view of the savannah at Animal Kingdom Lodge, which has dozens of cozy nooks.
- In front of the beautiful glass mosaic at the Barcelona Lounge in Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs.
I could go on and on.
Once your intended has said yes, a Capture Your Moment photo session at your favorite theme park would be a fabulous way to preserve the occasion.
I hope that gives you some ideas, Patrick. Please know that wherever and however you choose to ask this important question, it will be the right place with your right person. To quote Winnie the Pooh, "Any day spent with you is my favorite day."
Wishing you happily ever after,
Wilma
