While you are typically welcome to propose to your sweetheart during a
character meet-and-greet, you must adhere to the
property rules. Also, note that character meet-and-greets are designed to move as efficiently as possible so that every Guest gets an equal opportunity to interact with their favorite characters. So, if possible, I'd give any Character Attendants a heads-up about your plans, but note that there are no guarantees that they will be able to accommodate any special requests. The character may simply react to your proposal before continuing with the usual photos and interaction. But I think this has all the makings of the best day ever!
If you really want to make the moment special, you can look into a
Capture Your Moment session at one of the iconic locations in the theme parks or a
Signature Portrait Experience at select Disney Resort hotels. While a character wouldn't be involved, you
would get private attention from a Disney PhotoPass Cast Member who will work with you to make your dream moment come true. With Capture Your Moment, you can book back-to-back sessions for up to 40 minutes of individualized attention. You may also want to consider
Memory Maker so you can download all of the
Disney PhotoPass photos from your Capture Your Moment session. It may not involve thousands of floating lanterns, but it certainly sounds like the makings of a picture-perfect proposal!
